RIBBLE Valley’s branch of UKIP – the UK Independence Party – is confident it will see a substantial rise in support and membership this year.

The call is going out for members who have a little time to spare and could offer help with activities such as leaflet distribution to get in touch. Anyone considering joining the party can arrange to have an information pack delivered to their door.

At a recent meeting Clitheroe member Kevin Wallace joined the team as branch secretary and together with Steve Rush, Simon Kerins and Ron Loebell will drive the party forward locally.

The Ribble Valley team will also be assisting their colleagues in Hyndburn, Burnley and Pendle with their forthcoming local election campaigns.

Mr Wallace said: “UKIP reports there has been a great increase in applications from people wishing to put themselves up as candidates for election with at least eight already in place. It’s going to be a busy year for UKIP.”
