Twins born on Mum's 16th birthday

IT was "the best present ever" when Hayley Parks gave birth to healthy twins on Monday – her 16th birthday!

Although understandably apprehensive when Hayley fell pregnant so young, her supportive Clitheroe family were delighted when the twins arrived safely, especially Hayley's mum – now a proud grandma twice over – Mrs Pauline Parks (45), of Beech Street.

"The twins were born on Hayley's 16th birthday and the babies are the best present ever," said a delighted Pauline.

Hayley, a Year 11 pupil at Ribblesdale High School Technology College, went into labour on Mothers' Day – two weeks early – and headed for the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Little Keeley Haworth arrived in the world at 6-58 p.m. the next day weighing a healthy 7lb. 2oz. She was followed 31 minutes later by baby brother Keegan, weighing 7lb. 3oz. Both Hayley and the twins are doing well and were allowed home on Tuesday.

"We are all absolutely over the moon," added grandma Pauline. "Hayley coped very well during labour and she and her fiance, Robert (19), are delighted with the new arrivals."
