TWO women were rushed to hospital after a crash involving two cars and a bus on the busy A59.

An elderly woman was air-lifted to Airedale General Hospital having sustained a broken knee and her passenger friend was also taken to hospital with chest pains.

Police said a Nissan Micra, Ford Fiesta and a bus were in collision at the Barnoldswick turn-off, on the A59. The accident happened at 5-36 p.m. Sunday (yesterday) and the road was closed for three hours.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident.
