Thieves broke into a children’s soft play area in Clitheroe last night just a couple of days before the business will celebrate its first year anniversary.

Various items were stolen from Leaping Lizards Play Centre, which is situated on Hawthorn Business Park, Lincoln Way, between the hours of 6-30 pm last night (Sunday) and 8 am this morning (Monday).

Clitheroe PC Cath Towler has appealed for information from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious prior to the theft in that area. Anyone with information is urged to contact Clitheroe Police by dialling 101.

The centre was opened by Clitheroe couple Adele and Martin Aspinwall last year.

Adele told the Clitheroe Advertiser: “The centre is open as usual and we will still be holding our first birthday party tomorrow.”

Attractions at Leaping Lizards first birthday party tomorrow (Tuesday) will include the opportunity to visit the centre’s new sensory area from 9 to 11 am. From 11-30 am to 1-30 pm there will be a magician, party games and balloon making, while from 4 to 5 pm there is an after-school disco. To mark the special occasion it will be a £1 entry all day.
