Myths and realities about being French were separated at the latest meeting of the local French Circle.

Le Cercle Français de Ribblesdale heard an enthralling talk by Lory Barreau entitled “L’art d’être français - (et les stéréotypes!)”.

Lory is a member of the group and lives and works locally. She presented an amusing and informative talk about the way the French nation is perceived by others and how it perceives itself.

Marshalling an impressive range of facts and figures, delivered in an animated and amusing way, Lory dispelled many common misconceptions, much to the delight of the audience. he evening was well attended with a number of new faces there. An extra treat was in store when members Mike Taylor and Mike Lennon performed a delightful short piece which they had prepared consisting of a recital, a song and a dialogue.

The next meeting will be on April 8th at Whalley Abbey Great Hall at 7-30 p.m. when Whalley Wine Shop will be organising a wine tasting for the group. Visitors are welcome and the cost is £3 per head.
