Memories of VE Day were stirred when residents at The Manor House, Chatburn, turned back the clock to 1945.

The house was trimmed with bunting and Union flags, while displays of wartime memorabilia such as ration books, identity cards and 1945 newspapers encouraged the residents’ memories and stories of their experience of wartime and the celebrations when it ended.

A 1940s quiz and talk were enjoyed by all, and the younger staff were fascinated to learn about how conflict affected people who lived through it.

The heartfelt emotion ran high with the residents and day care visitors while they had a fantastic trip down memory lane.
