The presentation to the first of this year’s winners of the town’s customer card scheme also heralded the restoration of its initiator, Longridge Business Group.

Continuing as acting chair is Carole Hart “while we get back into full swing after a difficult spell” explained Carole, who also organised the presentation when resident Eileen Fordham received £50 worth of vouchers from group member Philip Goldsmith.

These are exciting moves forward for the greater good of Longridge trade and its businesses

She said: “The scheme is still on the go and the Business Group never really went away. We had a difficult spell but we are now busy getting back on our feet.

“We now have a new regular monthly meeting date, the first Monday of each month at 5:30pm upstairs in the Conservative Club on Berry Lane.

All members and prospective members are welcome at all meetings, please come along for a chat with fellow business folk.”

Carole added that a secretary has been appointed but there was a need for several more committee members to join the team.

“These are exciting moves forward for the greater good of Longridge trade and its businesses,” she said.

Longridge Business Group was established in 2008 to promote Longridge as a retail, business and leisure destination to consumers and other businesses in the north west

It also aims to ensure the trading environment in the town is conducive to the success of businesses, and encourages the establishment of other businesses in Longridge.

January winner in the group’s Longridge Does Shopping customer card scheme, Mrs Fordham, was given her vouchers by Philip Goldsmith in Goldsmith’s Family Jewellers shop.

She says she always shops in Longridge and never realise how many of the shops and businesses were in the scheme.

So she will be remembering to ask for her stamp in more places in the future

The December draw saw Judith Barrow win the vouchers. Judith, who works in Desire Handbags and shops in many of the Longridge shops, said she already had in mind what she was going to treat herself to with her winnings.
