And older students have completed their bronze final of the Duke of Edinburgh awards.

At the Holy Communion ceremony at English Martyrs RC Church, Whalley, the children read the bidding prayers and took up the offertory.

They were watched by teachers, friends and family who were all bursting with pride.

The Duke of Edinburgh students completed a 30km hike over two days in the beautiful setting of the Yorkshire Dales.

Carrying everything to be self sufficient for two days, pupils left behind technology and home comforts to share in a great adventure together.

They walked through Littondale and Wharfedale from Grassington to Hubberholme, taking in some challenging climbs which were rewarded with some fantastic views across the fells.

They had to prove their navigation and mapwork skills, along with campcraft, cooking meals, teamwork and survival skills.
