Top 25 things you want to do in 2012

Despite the economic doom and gloom, it seems as if singles in the North West have some big travel ambitions for 2012.

According to a study of single members by relationship site eHarmony seeing the Northern Lights, visiting a new country, walking Hadrian’s Wall and flying first class all feature prominently in the region’s Top 100 things to do in 2012.

With experts predicting the Northern Lights shining at the brightest levels for 50 years in 2012, singles in the North West are keen to don their snow gear and witness the spectacle for themselves with this experience coming in at number six on the list.

In spite of national money worries, singles in the North West are also feeling benevolent as giving features prominently. Raising money for charity is number nine on the list and, surprisingly, donating unworn clothes is listed at number 10 in the Top 100.

Perhaps buoyed by the London Olympics, singles are becoming sport-minded with activities like doing a 10km run, taking up Zumba and trying a new sport finishing in the top quarter of the must-do list.

The Top 25 experiences are:

As part of their “Must-do 2012” research, scientists at eHarmony studied the ambitions of 3,459 UK singles not only to create this “bucket list” of the 100 most popular activities, but also to discover the impact of one’s personality on goals and ambitions.

“2012 is a momentous year for Britain as it celebrates the jubilee and plays host to the Olympics. We want to encourage members to enrich and fulfil their lives, because we know that also increases their chances of finding a successful relationship,” said Dr Gian Gonzaga, eHarmony’s Senior Director of Research and Development.

Dr Gian Gonzaga explains: “If you are single and looking for a relationship, it’s not just about finding the right person, but also about being in the right place and frame of mind. When you are happy, fulfilled and therefore successful in life, you have a lot more to offer a potential partner.”
