Budding photographers are being asked to submit scenic shots of Whalley.

The “Spring into Whalley” photography competition has been launched by the team behind Whalley in Bloom. They are looking for recent photographs taken in the beautiful village and the surrounding woodland, which include flowers, trees or landscapes. The four categories are: Under-11s, 11 to 16 year olds, 17-plus and finally a woodland category open to all ages. As reported previously, Whalley has been chosen from more than 1,000 entrants to represent the North West in the RHS Britain in Bloom 2015 Finals. The village was selected after winning the regional titles for engaging every element of the community, for demonstrating an exceptional commitment to helping the environment and for top horticultural achievement. Results will be announced at an awards ceremony this October. Photographs may be posted to Whalley in Bloom by logging onto their Facebook page or e-mailing whalleyinbloom@gmail.com or they can tweet @whalleyinbloom. The winner and runner up in each category will receive an afternoon’s tuition and top tips by award-winning photographer, Stuart Ainslie. Full terms and condition of the competition can be found on Facebook. All entries should be submitted by May 31st, 2015 and judging will have taken place by mid-June.
