Snow closes almost a dozen schools

Almost a dozen schools throughout the Ribble Valley are closed today (Friday) after heavy snow falls this morning.

Secondary schools that have been forced to close due to the adverse weather include St Augustine’s RC High School at Billington, Bowland High School at Grindleton and Ribblesdale High School in Clitheroe. Both Clitheroe Royal Grammar School main school and its sixth form centre are open, as is Moorland School in Clitheroe and Stonyhurst College at Hurst Green.

Primary school wise, Brookside Primary School and Edisford Primary School in Clitheroe are both closed, as is Gisburn Primary School, Read CE Primary School, St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Hurst Green, St Mary’s RC Primary School, Langho, and St Mary’s RC Primary School, Sabden.

Ribblesdale Swimming Pool is also closed, but not due to the snow. The showers are not working due to an electrical fault.
