The sister and friend of a Billington woman who recently lost her battle with cancer will complete a skydive for a charity chosen by the lady herself.
Kellie Rea (38) succumbed to the disease after a three-year fight, inspiring and helping many other sufferers along the way.
Kellie’s sister Elaine Cunliffe and good friend Mandy Storozuk will complete the jump for the Willow Foundation, a charity which works with seriously ill young people aged 16 to 40, suffering from conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease, to provide uplifting and unforgettable special days and experiences.
The dive, originally planned for March 26th before Kellie died, had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions and will now take place on April 23rd.
Mandy said: “Doing this means even more to us now that Kellie is no longer with us. We want to raise as much as possible for The Willow Foundation in Kellie’s memory, as it was a charity that was so close to her heart. In the late stages of her fight, Kellie and her family visited a chalet in Scotland as guests of the foundation.
“For some, the special days that the charity provides are the opportunity to return some normality to their lives. For others, it is the last chance to fulfil a dream. But for everyone, at what can be the most difficult of times, a special day can lift spirits, reunify families and be a source of strength when it’s needed most.”
l The skydive will take place on Saturday, April 23rd at 8 am at Grange Over Sands. To donate to the duos fundraising efforts, visit: www.justgiving.com/mandyandelaine
