Children at Longridge CE Primary School had a “wonderful time” when Scream Street author Tommy Donbavand visited the school as part of its work in literacy.

His popular 13-book series for 7-10 year olds was a base for his amusing talk on how he became an author.

Organiser Carmen Dewhurst said: “It was amazing to see how he inspired our children, especially the boys, to write and pick up a book.

“They were helped to write a story map, create a new family for the series, and generate their own ideas for a story, which is usually what children find most difficult.”

They could also take in one of Tommy’s books for him to sign.
