1st Clitheroe Scout Group, with currently more than 90 members, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with a weekend camp at Bowley Scout Activity Centre, Great Harwood.
Parents were also invited for the Saturday afternoon and evening to join in activities, a barbecue and campfire singsong.
Approximate numbers present were 20 Beaver Scouts, who attended for the day on Saturday, 15 Cub Scouts, 24 Scouts, eight leaders and 50 parents.
Activities included volley ball for Cubs and pioneering with rope and spars for Scouts and on the Saturday afternoon a choice of archery, air rifle shooting, “leap of faith”, orienteering, fire-lighting and cooking bannocks and “twists”. There was also, as well as meals cooked centrally, a large specially made birthday cake was shared by all.
The Group Annual General Meeting took place out of doors. Following this Simon Nanson, who was retiring from being group chairman since the group was formed, was presented with a framed plaque bearing a group neckerchief and signed by all the leaders.
