THE festive spirit came to Sabden when St Nicholas’s Parish Church held its Christmas fair in the church hall on Saturday and it proved a huge success with dozens of people going along and raising £2,650 for church funds.

The stalls were dripping with gifts and goodies to buy and the church ladies ran the kitchen selling hot lunches. The event was opened by church rose queen Emily Greenhalgh and Father Christmas was in his grotto meeting children. The winner of the grand draw was Lindsay Newmark who won a TV. Churchwarden Bernard Parfitt thanked everyone for their tremendous support.
