CLITHEROE’S Roefield Leisure Centre is teaming up with Ribble Valley Borough Council in a new initiative to combat weight problems.

Starting from August 11th the brand new partnership will begin a 12-week “weigh-2-go” course to help local people tackle health problems connected to being overweight.

The course will cover all aspects of a healthy lifestyle and consist of private gym sessions and advice on nutrition, diet, lifestyle and exercise. It is an extension of the G.P. referral course already running via the Healthy lifestyles team and has now been opened to all who want to lose weight and live a healthier life.

For more information about the course, contact Jamie at Roefield on 01200 442188.

Also new at Roefield is “Fit Kidz”, a course designed to help keep our children fit and active. For kids ranging from eight to 12 years old, finding ways to keep fit is sometimes challenging, so Roefield has devised a new fun-based fitness course for this age group.

It will combine co-ordination, agility, cardio fitness and strength training drills to keep kids active over the summer. The sessions will run every Monday from 4-30 to 5-30 p.m. For more information contact Jamie at Roefield on 01200 442188

Roefield leisure centre has also gone “active” with the launch of a brand new scheme running across the Pennine Lancashire area. The Active Network scheme allows members to use 17 other registered local leisure centres. More than 90 people took advantage of a six-week trial membership running throughout last month.

The Active network allows people to take advantage of the different leisure facilities in Burnley, Blackburn, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale. For more details call in at Roefield Leisure Centre in Edisford Road, Clitheroe, or phone on 01200 442188.
