RIBCHESTER: Rain hits garden party - twice

Garden party - With so much effort invested in preparations for Ribchester Rectory garden party on July 10th, it was decided, when the party was washed out by rain that weekend, to hold it the following Sunday, but St Swithin had a different agenda.

Once again, the rain poured down and there was no alternative but to transfer the event back into the parish hall – this time, without the field day queen and her attendants and without St Christopher’s Jazz Band, but all the usual stalls were there, so villagers who did brave the weather were able to enjoy the raffles, tombola and refreshments.

After the rectory garden party, children from St Wilfrid’s Primary School held their end-of-year service in St Wilfrid’s Church with poems, songs, stories and presentations. It was their chance to say goodbye to those who were leaving, and gave everyone a chance to thank everyone for their support and encouragement during the recent Ofsted inspection.
