International - This popular International Night event will be held, again, in the parish hall on Saturday, October 15th. Tickets are £10 each, but if you are willing to act as a cook, it’s free! Contact Rosemary Sabben on 01772 783856 to discuss the country you would like to represent and the food you could prepare. More details will be available shortly.

Stepping Out - “Stepping Out” is a programme of free walks organised by Ribble Valley Borough Council in conjunction with NHS East Lancashire. These are held every day of the week, over different distances, so you can choose the walks that suit you best.

On September 8th, the Longridge group held an event at Ribchester Social Club, to raise funds for the North West Air Ambulance. The evening was an opportunity for the 70 walkers who attended to provide the food, entertainment and a cheque for £500 to this life-saving service which depends solely on public donations to meet its annual costs of £4m.

The cheque was presented by John Moriaty, who had been rescued within minutes when on a walk with the group near Chipping when he had torn a tendon in his knee. After a flying visit to hospital, courtesy of the NWAA, he is back on his feet and making a good recovery.

Last year, as was reported at the time, the air ambulance landed on the recreation ground in the village to deal with another medical emergency.
