ASIDE from the great sporting achievements, hosting the Olympic Games also brought the chance to showcase Britain as a great tourism destination.

Ribble Valley seized on this opportunity by hosting a tourism familiarisation visit following the Games, when a group of international journalists were invited by Marketing Lancashire to discover what the area has to offer.

Ribble Valley Borough Council’s Tourism and Events Officer, Tom Pridmore, said: “We were delighted to welcome the group into the Ribble Valley and I know they were impressed with the quality of food and accommodation as well as the stunning scenery they experienced.”

Enjoying an overnight stay at Tourism Association member Mytton Fold Hotel and Golf Complex, Langho, the group were treated to a Lancashire banquet including all locally-sourced foods.

During the evening they took a ride in golf buggies to the top of the hill in the hotel grounds to experience the stunning views and watch the sun set over Lancashire.

The following day the group, which included journalists from China and Italy as well as freelance UK journalists writing for national and international media, toured the Trough of Bowland and on to Lancaster.
