IT was a case of bangers and no cash for hundreds of Clitheroe residents as they tucked into free barbecues.
Following the success of last year’s event, the churches of Clitheore joined forces with The Grand and hosted a weekend of action, service and celebration – plus a free community barbecue at the Bullring in the town market on Friday between noon and 2 p.m.
Hundreds of people – both young and old – descended into the town and enjoyed the burgers and sausages.
On Saturday, the event switched to Clitheroe Castle field between noon and 2 p.m., and on Sunday there was a grand celebration service at the bandstand, including face painting, drama, worship and much more.
The Rev. Mark Pickett hailed the weekend a huge success. He said: “Last year we had over 800 people and this time we had more. It was a brilliant community-spirited event with hundreds of church volunteers and residents all coming together.
“We would like to thank everyone that attended and also Ribble Valley Borough Council for their support. Love is free and we wanted to share that love with everyone.”
