When it comes to celebrating our patron saint, we English have been left standing by our Scottish, Welsh and Irish cousins.
For those of you that don’t know, and polls suggest there are many of you, today is St George’s Day - a day when all England gets the chance to raise a glass to our very own dragon-slayer!
The flag of St George has rightly been reclaimed by patriotic folk who want to celebrate their Englishness but at the same time recognise that we a re a hybrid society made up of people of many nationalities.
We are a very proud nation yet seem reluctant to raise a glass to St George and this England. Now is the time to change that. Cheers.
