Macmillan Cancer Support and the East Lancashire Hospice have benefitted from funds raised by a pigeon fancier who has a terminal illness himself.

Chris Mather, of Edgeworth, near Bolton, held an auction of his beloved racing pigeons staged by the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, raising £3,411 for the two charities.

Representatives from the Macmillan went along to collect the cheque at the East Lancashire Hospice where Chris is receiving care.
