A residential care home for the elderly and those with dementia based in Clitheroe has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Abbeyfield House on Union Street celebrated the milestone anniversary on Friday with a buffet and entertainment after the English weather put pay to a garden party outside.

Clitheroe Town Mayor Maureen Fenton attended along with many relatives, friends, volunteers, trustees and former members of staff.

Abbeyfield House was opened by Lord Clitheroe on August 8th, 1992, and has cared for the elderly ever since, with a new dedicated dementia unit and expansion a few years ago.

Lesley Payne, who manages Abbeyfield House, is very proud of the service that the care home provides, creating a warm, friendly home for residents.

The Abbeyfield House team are now looking forward to the next 25 years.
