Pupils turn 'spy'to track down Clitheroe yobs

GRIME crime is being captured by young spies.

Armed with cameras, 12 youngsters from St Michael and St John's Primary School, Clitheroe, rolled up their sleeves and embarked on an exciting mission.

They patrolled the Castle Gounds to take pictures after a spate of damage and graffiti to the landmark.

Also involved in the operation and identifying recent problems was the Neighbourhood Policing Team. PCSO Danyal Desai said: "This initiative is designed to empower children by giving them the ability to take pictures of any damage or graffiti in the area and allows them to identify crime and hopefully discourage them from committing crime in the future."

The children, from Years 5 and 6, were supervised by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and a teacher, while taking photos and completing a report.

Following the audit, steps will be taken to identify problem areas and work will be carried out with Ribble Valley Borough Council and local children to restore them.
