Year Nine pupils at a Ribble Valley high school are supporting the Channel 4 campaign “Stand up to Cancer” in aid of Cancer research.
Each form at St Augustine’s RC High School at Billington has made their own charity ribbons in their form colours and have been selling these for a £1 donation to the rest of the pupils at the school. Multi-coloured ribbons have also been made for staff.
The aim of Year Nine has been to work together as a group and get the whole school standing up to cancer by wearing a ribbon. The money raised will fund research and research will beat cancer.
Head teacher, Michael Wright, said: “A significant number of our families have been affected by the impact of cancer on their loved ones and our pupils wanted to do something positive to support the work of the cancer research charities.
“The pupils have thrown themselves into the ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ campaign, both in terms of promoting the campaign in school and donating money to the charity.”
