Have you seen this unusual looking bird flying around the rooftops of Clitheroe?

Several people have reported sightings of a pink bird, thought to be a pigeon, perched on rooftops in Clitheroe this week.

Julie Hemingway, a 51-year-old teacher, spotted the pink bird at around 5pm yesterday on a neighbour's roof at Hawthorne Place in Clitheroe.

"I couldn't get a good enough view or photo, but it looked like it might have been a pink pigeon rather than escaped parrot," said Julie.

"I contacted my vet in case it was a missing pet. They told me to contact the RSPCA who said they couldn't really do anything because the bird could fly and seemed ok. They told me to register the sighting on pets located.com, which I did.

"It flew onto a house in Park Avenue at about 5-30pm. Strange end to my working week, but at least it wasn't a pink elephant!"

The bird has also been spotted on Highmoor Park in Clitheroe.
