STUDENTS from the Ribble Valley celebrated their examination successes as this year’s A-Level results were announced.
Once again there was an excellent result at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. Among the sixth form’s real stars were 18-year-old Alicia Wade, from Mellor, who was awarded five A* grades and is now looking forward to studying dentistry at Manchester University and David Wallis (18), who received four A* and will be attending Cambridge University to study natural sciences.
Meanwhile, pupils and staff at Stonyhurst College celebrated another set of fantastic A-Level results with 67% of this year’s grades being A*-B grades.
A spokesman for the schools said: “This result is only just pipped at the post by last year’s record breaking year for the College. The UCAS points total is 358, which equals the best performance from last year.
Geography, history and german all achieved a 100% A*-B grades, with theatre studies, further mathematics, chemistry and economics all gaining over 80% A*-B grades.
