Resolutions - At the meeting of Pendleton WI Mrs S. Kirk led a discussion on the topics to go forward to the AGM in Liverpool.

She introduced guest speaker Mrs Muriel Sanderson who gave a light-hearted description of the seven ages of women. Her stories from children, teenagers, motherhood, middle age and old age struck a chord with everyone. She was thanked by Mrs E. Boyd Martin.

A competition for a favourite pair of shoes was won by Mrs C. Woodward and a sugar and spice stall was run by Mrs M. Gornall and Mrs E. Grindley.

Names were taken for the outing to Blackpool illuminations in October. The recent treasure hunt had been enjoyed by five members. In place of Taylor’s gifts of Yorkshire Tea, LFWI has accepted a gift of Lancashire Tea for every WI in Lancashire.

Suggestions were put forward for celebrations for Pendleton WI’s 90th birthday in 2012.

Visitors are invited to the next meeting on June 21st when Stephen Watson will demonstrate origami.

CAMRA award - The Swan With Two Necks, Pendleton, has been awarded the East Lancashire CAMRA Pub-of-the-Year.
