THE parishes of Slaidburn and Tosside have now a new priest–in-charge following the retirement of the Rev. Mark Russell-Smith last September.

His successor, the Rev. George Darby, was licensed to the parishes at a service in Slaidburn Parish Church, led by Bishop of Bradford the Rt Rev. Nick Baines.

Mr Darby was formerly an Honorary Curate in the parish of Egloskerry, Cornwall, and joins the parishes as a “house for duty” priest-in-charge. The service was well attended and welcomes were given to Mr Darby by Mayor of the Ribble Valley Coun. Simon Hore, local clergy and schools.

Mr Darby and his wife, Pauline, have moved into the Rectory at Slaidburn and celebrated their arrival with services of Holy Communion at Slaidburn and Tosside churches.
