Clitheroe’s Civic Society raised their banner outside Boots in Castle Street last week to promote their “Mile of Pennies” event in aid of St Mary’s Church spire rebuild.

Despite changeable weather, over £70 was raised with 7,000 pennies donated. The event was the culmination of the celebration of Civic Week, also marked by a display of the society’s work in Clitheroe library.

Meetings of the society will re-commence on September 2nd with the AGM and buffet. The meeting will begin at 7pm and tickets must be pre-booked on 01200 429187.
