Brookside school in Clitheroe took part in a competition organised by Lancashire Healthy School’s and were awarded highly commended for their creative idea.

The school council decided to increase physical activity and highlight the benefits of walking, so decided to challenge pupils to see how many times they could virtually walk up Pendle Hill. Areas of the school grounds were measured out and pupils and staff took part during PE and break times.

Those taking part were given pedometers and competed to see who could walk the furthest – in total, they managed to virtually walk up Pendle Hill 149 times.
