The recently re-formed Whalley and District Lions Club were delighted to present their first cheque of £350 to Whalley Community First Responders.

This will help the First Responders buy essential kit to assist them in their important work within a rural community. The First Responders rely on volunteers and donations. The cheque was handed over to Gordon Fishlock and Linda Middleton from Whalley Community First Responders

The funds were raised thanks to the Accrington and Bolton Lions, who held a stall on Whalley’s annual Pickwick Night at the end of last year. The Whalley and District Lions group now has 18 members and needs just two more to be a fully Independent Lions Charter.

If you are interested in joining you can find out more on the group’s Facebook page or go along to a meeting at The De Lacy Arms in Whalley on the second Monday of the month at 7-30 pm.
