Kath Lord-Green told the Advertiser: “It’s been two years hard work since we were awarded the licence, but we’ve done it.

“I can’t thank the local community and local businesses enough for their support. As a community radio station we rely on the community being a huge part of what we do, both bringing the station to launch and in the future.

“We have a great group of volunteers and some great programmes lined up.”

The official opening recently took place with Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Joyce Holgate cutting the ribbon to declare the station open.

Coun. Holgate said: “I wish the station every success, Kath has begged and borrowed to get this community station off the ground and it’s a great asset to the community” With Joyce was David Underwood who has given more than 150 hours of his free time to get the station ready on-time.

Station manager Kath added: “David didn’t know he was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony and indeed we have also named studio two after him – ‘Underwood’ – in recognition of his volunteering. Studio one is Lancaster to thank The Grand for housing us there.”
