A mum-of-two re-lived her childhood dream when she took part in the annual Reebook 10k road race.

For it was 30 years to the day that Michaela Thompson first ran the event when she was just 11 years old.

And she made the front page of the Clitheroe Advertiser when organisers let her take part even though the age limit was 16.

Thrilled Michaela ran unofficially and finished in 46 minutes, 16 seconds, coming in ahead of her coach.

Always a keen runner Michaela, now 41, lives in Whalley Road, Clitheroe, with her husband Stuart and their two children, Theo (17) and 15-year-old Ellie.

Michaela said: “I have always enjoyed running and I remember vividly taking part in the race the first time.

“There was quite a lot of fuss round it because I was so young too.’’

Back in 1985, Michaela managed to raise £100 for charity but she second time she took part just to complete a personal challenge for herself.
