PUPILS from a Valley school swopped their rural surroundings for the bright city lights.
Youngsters from St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Hurst Green visited Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans in Parliament. The pupils were shown around Westminster Palace, including the chambers of both the House of Commons and House of Lords.
Speaking from Westminster, Mr Evans said: “I was delighted to welcome pupils from St Joseph’s to Parliament today and tremendously pleased that they were so interested in the workings of Parliament.
“I was particularly happy when so many of them indicated that they might like to follow a career in politics.
“I think its vitally important that the institutions of our democracy engage with young people as early as possible and for that reason I will always make myself available to schools and students. “Whilst I think some of the pupils from St Joseph’s may well revise their ideas on their career paths I hope that they will always remember coming here and learning about how Parliament works.
“The pupils were a credit to their school throughout their visit and my team and I enjoyed our time with them very much.”
