A MAN who went missing while out walking on Thursday morning has been found dead in the Ribble Valley.
The body of a man believed to be John Rayton (70) was found at just after 1-30 p.m. on Saturday in a field at Ingsend, Skeleron Lane, Rimington.
A police spokeswoman said: “Although no formal identification has taken place, we believe it to be Mr John Rayton. His family have been informed.”
Mr Rayton had not been seen since he left his home address in Sharoe Green Lane, Preston, around 8-30 a.m. on Thursday.
It is thought he may have used public transport to go walking in Gisburn after first feeding the ducks at the Royal Preston Hospital.
A major search had been mounted by Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, Bowland Pennine MRT and Bolton MRT, aided by animals and handlers from Search and Rescue Dogs England and Sarda Wales, along with an RAF Sea King helicopter.
