Children acted out the Nativity story in the traditional St Nicholas Night parade in Clitheroe.
In the “walking nativity” the parade followed Mary and Joseph and their donkeys from Clitheroe Parish Church up through the town, calling at an inn to find that there was no room. Then they all sang carols at the Christmas crib at the castle gates.
“It is a lovely and magical evening” said the vicar, the Rev Andy Froud.
The procession was on the same evening as the annual Santa Dash in which 120 fancy dress Santas helped to raise £8,000 for East Lancashire Hospice.
