A total of 117 members and guests attended the spring lunch of the Ribble Valley Macmillan Cancer Support “100 Club” held at Mitton Hall.

After lunch, guest speaker the Rev. Andy Froud gave an interesting insight into his 20 years of ministry in Yorkshire and Blackpool before coming to Clitheroe Parish Church.

Among the donations and cheques presented was one for £2,175 from the current Ribble Valley Mayor’s predecessor Coun. Bridget Hilton. The funds were raised through her Mayoral fund raising from May 2015 to earlier this month when she handed over the Mayoral chains to Coun. Joyce Holgate. Another cheque for £3,600 was presented by Howard Blackburn, president of Clitheroe Rotary, whose club ran a St George’s Day Ball. A third cheque for £3,000 came from Shireburn Park’s fund raising throughout the year. The committee itself raised £1,400 through a “Bridge Drive”, £1,175 from a collection at Booths, Clitheroe, and £1,200 (including £525 from the raffle) from the lunch.

The Committee would like to thank all the members for their generous support and for the continued support of local businesses, including Booths supermarket, and Ribble Valley residents generally.
