THERE was no sign of rain as villagers celebrated a two-day festival of fun, music, food and drink in Sawley.
The Sawley Summer Sundowner proved a hit once again providing family entertainment for all ages.
Crowds of people attended the festival, which is in its second year and got under way with “Music in the Marquee”, in a tent over the village hall car park. Entertainment was provided by local band “Compared to what”, plus Scotty the DJ.
The evening began at 7-30 p.m., with a meat paella, pudding and licenced bar in the Village Hall.
The following day there was a Family Sunday event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. where people were invited to take their own picnic and enjoy the entertainment, provided by Eric Ainsworth Jazz Quartet. Glorious sunshine ensured visitors had a great time.
Other highlights included a bouncy castle for children, face painting and pottery painting.
Organiser Mr Geoff Bolton hailed the event a success and was thankful to the people who attended.
All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the village hall and children’s playground.
