Lock up your vehicles: police warning after spate of thefts

Police are warning vehicle owners to be vigilant after a spate of thefts in the Billington and Langho area.

Clitheroe Police Sgt Stuart Banks said that thieves had targeted five different vehicles overnight on Thursday.

A Rover 825 car parked on Pasturelands Drive, Billington, was tampered with between the hours of 1 am and 10 am yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Dewalt power tools worth £795 and a satellite navigation device were stolen from a white Fiat van parked on Dale View, Billington, between the hours of 8 pm Thursday and 7 am Friday morning.

Also in Billington that same night, an Audi A3 parked on Victoria Terrace was targeted with a tenner’s worth of loose change stolen.

A silver Ford transit van parked on Weavers Terrace, Billington, also caught the attention of thieves who stole two nail guns worth £1,350 from the vehicle at around 2 am on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, a wallet containing £55 was stolen from a Ford Zetec car parked on St Mary’s Drive at Langho overnight on Thursday.

Sgt Banks commented: “The message here is for people not to leave valuables including tools and satellite navigation devices in their vehicles and to make sure that their vehicles are secure.”
