Jill (38) painted the poppy picture in memory of her late uncle Peter Wright, who died last November, and it will be the main prize in a draw at the Peter Wright Memorial Doubles Competition at Sabden Bowling Club on May 14th and 15th.

Jill, who is based at the Ribble Valley Art Studios in Wellgate, Clitheroe, and has recently held a successful exhibition at Burnley Mechanics, wanted to produce something special for her much loved Uncle Peter, who was a real personality in his home village of Sabden.

“Sleep In Peace” is painted on wood with acrylic paint and ink with a resin coating and is framed in black and took many hours to create.

The bowling club wanted to name the competition in his memory and Peter’s family have provided a new trophy for the competition and commissioned a new noticeboard for the bowling club in his name.

Tickets for the draw are available now from bowling club members and will be on sale throughout the charity weekend when all the proceeds will go to Marie Curie Nurses who helped Peter in his final days before his death aged 67.

Spectators are invited to the weekend event and club members will provide refreshments
