The victim, in his 20s, was approached online and flirted with someone he believed to be a 23-year-old woman using the names “Nycolelabelle121” and “Llaabeille Nicc”.

Although the blackmailed man is from Bristol, the fact the pair made contact via the internet means anyone could be vulnerable to the attentions of online extortion scam. Similarly, the woman claimed to be a French florist in London, but one of the accounts indicated she may live in the West Midlands.

Police have warned other men not to fall for the same scam, in which the Bristol man was encouraged to engage in personal sexual behaviour over a video call while she secretly recorded him.

She then demanded money and when the victim failed to pay up the X-rated video was published online.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “The victim, from the east Somerset area, was approached on a social networking website and began exchanging messages with someone he believed to be a 23-year-old woman.

“The woman used the account names “Nycolelabelle121” and “Llaabeille Nicc”. One of the accounts suggested she was based in the West Midlands.

“After messaging online, the victim was encouraged to engage in a sexual act on a video call which the suspect secretly recorded.

“Demands for money were then made by the suspect to prevent the recording being published on social media. However, the recording was published after the victim refused to pay.

“The suspect is described as white, with long brown straight hair just above her elbows and a freckled face.

“She claimed she was French but had been living in London since she was three-years-old and was now working as a florist.”
