Man suffers serious injuries in Pendle crash

A 22-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious back injuries after a collision in Laneshawbridge, Pendle.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which occurred around 3-45 pm yesterday (June 24th). A 51-year-old man was driving a Toyota Picnic on Keighley Road, when the car was in collision with a wall.

The front seat passenger, a 22-year-old man, suffered serious spinal injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment for a broken back.

A 37-year-old man sat in the rear of the vehicle suffered bruising to his leg and was taken to Airedale General Hospital. The driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for more than three hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.

Sgt David Hurst, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are keen to speak with any witnesses to this accident. A 22-year-old man has suffered serious injuries and is currently in hospital being treated. If you saw what happened, please contact police immediately.”
