Patients and staff made history by moving into the new £7.8m. Clitheroe Community Hospital building.

Twenty inpatients moved from the 141-year-old hospital, in Chatburn Road, Clitheroe, to the new building’s Ribblesdale ward designed with dementia-friendly principles, which has 16 individual rooms and an additional 4x4 bedded bays. Each patient has their own en-suite toilet with shower facilities.

Debbie Hargreaves, matron for community inpatients at Clitheroe Hospital, said: “Ribblesdale ward is an absolutely fantastic facility for staff and patients who are so pleased with their new surroundings.”

l The official opening of the new hospital takes place on Monday, June 9th.
