A pub photograph from the 1970s has prompted a reunion of ‘Padiham lads’ now mostly in their 60s.

It all started when David Brydges, of Kingsley Avenue, posted a photograph of young Hare and Hounds regulars on the “Ye Olde Padiham” Facebook page.

Glynn Hardy, whose mother Marge was licensee at the time, saw the posting at his home in Lancaster and suggested an informal get-together.

Now a date has been fixed for Saturday evening, August 23rd, from 7pm onwards.

Anyone who was on the photograph, and any other regulars of the West Street pub from the time, can just turn up and catch up on the past 40 years.

At the time, the pub had two football teams and was the favourite watering hole for a large bunch of pals who called themselves “Rent-a-Crowd.”

The photograph was taken one summer Sunday afternoon by the late Bob Brydges, a popular Canadian who had made his home in Padiham and raised a family there.

David said: “My dad often had his camera with him. He was taking a photo of my brother Arthur and his pal Dave Hall outside the pub one Sunday afternoon, and Arthur went inside the pub and brought everybody out.

“I put the photo on Ye Olde Padiham and it just took off from there. Loads of people have said they’ll come to the reunion.”
