CONSERVATIVE CO-TREASURER: James Lupton CBE. (s)

Former Waddington resident and Moorland School pupil James Lupton CBE has been appointed co-treasurer of the Conservative party.

Mr Lupton (56), who now lives in Chelsea with his French-born wife Beatrice, was appointed to the post on February 5th.

The appointment was made by the Prime Minister David Cameron following a recommendation by the party board.

Conservative party co-chairman Andrew Feld commented: “I am delighted to welcome James Lupton as party co-treasurer. I know he is looking forward to working closely with Michael Farmer, who has done excellent work since being appointed last year. James will be a welcome addition to the team and have a vital role in building a General Election Fighting Fund for the Conservative party.”

A Father-of-four, Mr Lupton was given the CBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours List and is also a trustee and director of the British Museum. He also runs the European operation for financial services firm Greenhill and Co., based in New York.

Having grown up in Waddington, Mr Lupton attended Malsis and Sedbergh schools after finishing his primary schooling at Moorland. He went on to read Law at Oxford.

He commented: “I am delighted and honoured to have been asked to be one of the two co-treasurers of the Conservative Party. The challenge is significant, but I am absolutely convinced that the Conservatives have the right plan to get the country back on its feet by rewarding hard work and aspiration, improving education and having a fairer social welfare system.”
