Three men escape fierce flat fire in Clitheroe
THREE people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation after a fierce blaze at a second floor flat in Clitheroe.
Fire crews were called to the incident in Station Court, off Station Road, just before 11-30 p.m. on Saturday. On arrival, they found police rescuing a man from the flat, which was already well alight. Six fire-fighters wearing breathing apparatus spent three hours tackling the fire, which had severely damaged the premises. There was also damage to an external lobby area.
Three men were treated by paramedics having suffered smoke inhalation before being taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Clitheroe Watch Manager Dave McGrath stressed the importance of having a fire alarm, which he claims in this incident, saved the lives of the three men.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and the incident is under investigation.
