Queen Elizabeth II will be visiting Burnley in May as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK

THE Queen is set to make a royal visit to Burnley as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK.

Her Royal Highness will visit East Lancashire with the Duke of Edinburgh to mark her 60-year reign which began in 1952.

Queen Elizabeth II will arrive in Burnley between May 16th and 17th as part of the North-West leg of her tour which also takes in Accrington, Manchester, Salford, Warrington, Cheshire and Liverpool.

It will be the monarch’s first visit to the town since 1987. She also came in 1955 and 1968.
