Slaidburn steam fair £3,000 boost for children

CHILDREN in Slaidburn have benefited from a record breaking steam fair.

This year's event, organised by David and Jean McNamee, was the busiest ever with more exhibitors than usual.

Crowds flocked to Slaidburn to see the historic steam engines, encouraged by fine weather all weekend.

Held on the Hark to Bounty car park and the adjoining field, the steam fair raised 3,600, which has been divided equally between Brennands Endowed Primary School and Slaidburn playgroup.
