Runners call for Amelia's charity

THE fifth annual 10k Amelia Cup Fun Run will take place in September.

Competitive and fun runners, as well as families who can walk the course, will battle it out for the coveted trophies for the fastest man and fastest lady.

The aim of the event on September 16th is to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Runners can register from 9-15 a.m. to 10-15 a.m. and the run will start from West Bradford Village Hall at 10-30 a.m., with the route making its way into Waddington and Clitheroe before finishing at West Bradford.

The Amelia Cup Fun Run is organised by the friends and family of Amelia Dickinson of Whalley. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was just three-months-old. Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease with sufferers finding it difficult to breathe and digest food.

Amelia has to have physiotherapy twice a day and a lot of medicine, a common cold can result in a hospital stay.

Amelia's parents, friends and family constantly raise funds for the C.F. Trust so it can one day find a cure. Already they have raised 33,000 and are always thinking of innovative ways to raise more money. Samantha Dickinson, Amelia's mum, with her aunt Gail Bailey and family friend Aimie Hamer, of Re:Fit Personal Training want to make this year's Amelia Cup the most successful yet.

Entrants are encouraged to get sponsorship although an enrolment fee of 12.50 can be paid. Donations can also be left at www.justgiving.com/theameliacup.

Anyone who would like more information can contact Samantha on 07977164509, Gail on 07980743610 or Aimie on 07793955686. (s)
